Saint Nicholas Day

December 6th is St. Nicholas day and in following the tradition that I've practiced since I was a small child, I'll put a nicely polished shoe outside my door the night before in the hopes that it will be filled with goodies when I awake the next morning.

In Germany, Nikolaus is usually celebrated on a small scale. Many children put a boot, called Nikolaus-Stiefel, outside the front door on the night of December 5 to December 6. St. Nicholas fills the boot with gifts, and at the same time checks up on the children to see if they were good. If they were not, they will have a tree branch ("Rute") in their boots instead. Source

I'm opting to put out a dainty little Mary Jane rather than a boot as I'm afraid my pirate girl footwear might sway his decision between "gifts" and "branches".

Any guesses as to what St. Nicholas will bring this year? Will it be sweets or switches?

How about switches made of chocolate? :-) -- Erica

Since you are eager to continue this childhood tradition, I assume the results were to your liking as a child. O:) Anxious to see what tomorrow brings! Cute Mary Janes!

hmmmmm I'd say both as well. Bubblegum as the sweets and whatever you like best for the "switches". I hope St Nicholas knows the way to "Cow Town" (HUGS)

Saint Nick, wise man that he is, will undoubtedly leave you the switches--because he knows when you open the door, you'll see them and say, "Sweet!"

Dr. Ken,
who actually thinks you might find both....

My German teacher once told us that
St Nicholas is traditionally accompanied on his rounds by some guy called Shwartzpeter (Black Peter), who is the one responsible for dishing out the CP.
I’ve also read somewhere that Black Peter has been known to kidnap the occasional bratty girl and take her away to become a Barbary Coast pirate’s moll. So, Pixie, maybe that pirate costume will come in handy!

Hello again. The Serial Spanker here. I'm sure you'd rather have the sweets, but my vote is for the switches. And if you're a good girl and take a nice switching, then I'm sure you're get all the sweet treats you desire!

I made a nice picture of a naughty girl over Black Peter's knee. I will post it to your email address. Maybe you can post it here.
Naughty girls were spanked by Santa or - more often - by his Black helpers; "Zwarte Pieten" in Dutch.
I played the role of "Zwarte Peit" a couple of times myself and had great fun taking naughty girls over my knee for a brisk spanking!
The public Santa festivities normally take place outdoors and as it is winter people are warmly dressed. So the spankings over a couple of layers of clothes are hardly felt...
At home it's more a family affair and in our family most were dressed in pyjamas already.
Gifts came from the bag from Santa and sometimes there were poems in which all the wrong-doings of brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews were exposed.
In such cases it was nice to play "Zwarte Piet" as you could spank the naughty girls over your knee on their pyjama bottoms.

One older cousin (about fifteen) slipped into my bedroom later on such a night. I was washing my blackened face on the wash stand, when she said: "That was hardly a spanking you gave me..! Guess you can do better than that!"
I finished the washing and sat on the side of my bed. With a big smile she positioned herself across my lap and pushed her pyjama pants a bit down...
I got the message and lowered her pyjama pants to halfway her knees. A long spanking on her bare buttocks followed, my cousin teasing me all the time so that I had no choice but to spank her harder...
About ten minutes later her bum was glowing and nicely red all over!

This is a true story.

Love and kisses, Funbun

smallhanded - Richard Windsor returns as the jolly ol' elf in this year's Christmas special. Let's find out if my fellow brat friends and I have been any better behaved than last year.

b - well, when in doubt, have both I suppose. But just remember I like to share. :)

Erica - Mmmm. Chocolate switches are welcome any time!

2Good - Yes, St. Nicholas was always good to me. I'll post soon about his most recent visit.

007 - St. Nicholas no trouble finding all of the country roads and small towns thanks to GPS.

Dr. Ken - That's a pretty good one!

will - Sounds like popular opinion is that I was equally naughty and nice.

mike - while I'd rather have switches for cleaning the floor than leaving lines of fire on my bottom, I guess I wasn't quite well-behaved enough to receive a Swiffer mop? But thank you for saying I'm sweet and should get candy too.

Martin - Yes, my boyfriend and I are both of German (and Irish) descent and growing up (though we didn't know eachother then) both practiced the tradition of St. Nicholas Day. My childhood friends didn't celebrate the day as I did and I don't know of many others even now around here that do ... other than my one friend who when I told her young children about St. Nicholas, was then in a bit of a bind to begin incorporating it! :)

Steve (uk) - Yes, I had a storybook that featured Shwartzpeter accompanying St. Nicholas on his rounds. He's a scary little guy! The good news is I'm still in Cowtown and have not been kidnapped though.

Serial Spanker - Of course I'd rather have sweets! All these votes for the switch ... I must have been naughtier than I thought.

Funbun - I have no doubt that you greatly enjoyed helping out Santa and taking on the role of Zwarte Peit! I've posted your drawing of Black Peter and a naughty, well-switched girl HERE. She must have been quite mischievous all year long to earn such a good thrashing!

Oh! I learned about St. Nicholas Day back in Highschool German. Something about Ruprecht and how he left rute for children.
