Not So Naughty

Well, despite all the votes for me getting switches in my shoe this year, St. Nicholas must have thought I was pretty good this year. He brought a couple of small presents, chocolate, and of course, bubble gum. Good ol' St. Nick!!!

Peanut kept a watchful eye in the hopes St. Nicholas would return with more catnip mice and crunchy treats for her and Misha.

Later that afternoon, I bundled up, and my boyfriend and I headed out to find a tree. Don't let the beautiful blue skies fool you. It was freezing out!

I loved one tree we found that had small pine cones still clinging to the branches. A little decorating help from Mother Nature. Unfortunately the rest of the tree was a little dried out and we had to pass on it.

We found better candidate and sawed away. While we'd always gotten a real tree for Christmas in my family, this was the first time I'd ever gone to a cut your own place. Despite the cold, the novelty of searching for and cutting my own tree made it worthwhile.

My boyfriend finished up the task ensuring the cut was straight ...

and then I grabbed his gloves and made off with our find.

So no switches for me. The only "Rute" for me this year were the ones on the Christmas tree. I'm almost certain I was at least a little naughty this year. Maybe St. Nicholas thought that with all of the spankings I receive I've already made up for it? Or maybe he's just leaving it for Santa to handle come Christmas.

In my experience, pine trees can stink up the house after a while. I recommend a fir or spruce.

Also, it'll be interesting to see what the kitties do. I've heard of cats trying to climb a Christmas tree and pulling it down.

How fun! We planned on taking our son to a tree farm this year, but we ended up with sore knees and sore back... so had to pass. Next year though!

Know what you mean about those blue winter skies too. brrrrr. Still think you could have given us a bare bottom pic though... lol. It's not like your bottom couldn't have been warmed up in some way!

Awwww very cool. Glad you have a tree all set up. Can't wait to see the decorated version. :-)

It's cold here in NY. Stay warm if you can, sweetie.

I got chocolate from St.Nicholas as well, even after I wrote a note saying how bad I had been this year :-(

Nice tree,do you go for a star or a fairy on the top?

You're very sweet but definitely naughty. I think St. Nic made a mistake and forgot to tuck a few switches in between the candy. Maybe you should go cut a few of your own to make up for it.

Pixie, This year you've been a wonderful caretaker of the PB and your own site. No doubt you give the loved ones in your life lots of tlc as well. St. Nicholas is obviously a good judge of character.

Southern Expat - I'm not certain what variety we ended up getting. There were several types of trees at the farm including fir and spruce.

The kitties have been very well behaved as far as the tree is concerned. They just sit and stare up at it as if wondering why a large tree has sprouted in the dining room.

Todd & Suzy - Sorry to hear that you're both still in discomfort! Were you able to get an already cut tree?

I might have dared to bare my bottom even in the cold, but my boyfriend's parents were with us picking out their tree as well. But as for blue winter skies, I think it was what, high 70s where you are?? Hmph.

007 - The tree is up, but still sits undecorated. We plan to trim it tomorrow. :)

Hope NY warms up a little. Planning a trip or two into the city soon.

Prefectdt - Hmmm. Maybe St. Nicholas' way of saying you were naughty is to not give you the spanking you hoped for?

We are starting from scratch as far as ornaments and tree toppers go and are still on the hunt for either a star or an angel.

bunwarmer - Oh no! Made to pick my own switch for the holiday. That would be mean. ;)

2Good - Thank you. That's so sweet! You must have put in a good word with St. Nicholas for me.
