Running Around

The closing yesterday went surprisingly smoothly and my boyfriend and I are now the proud owners of a delightful home ... and a not so delightful amount of debt. But it's so well worth it.

I don't think the reality of it has fully hit me yet despite signing a mountain of paperwork and having purchased gallons of paint (in windham cream, fresh cream, and vanilla ice cream ... detect a pattern?). I think it will probably take until I spend the first night in our new bed to realize this is indeed ours.

For now though, my attention is focused on our upcoming Vegas trip for the Shadow Lane party. We leave at o'dark hundred tomorrow morning and so I am running around like a mad woman trying to get ready. Why is that no matter how much advance notice and regardless of how many to-do lists I make, I'm still left scrambling at the last minute?

I'm nearly done packing. Actually, I think we can officially call this overpacking. Never is it clearer that I am one that can't make up my mind than when it comes to selecting what to bring on a trip or to a shoot. I'll think to myself, "I may want to wear shorts." So I'll end up packing 5 pairs because without a doubt, if I only bring one or two, I'll wish I had brought the ones that are sitting in my dresser at home. Sundresses are cute and are great for play, private parties, sight seeing, or wearing as a cover up to the pool ... so I pack 6. School uniforms? Well it is a spanking party and what better occasion to wear one. 4 tops, 2 ties, 5 skirts, 3 pairs of socks and a jumper later, my bag is starting to get cramped. Shirts, shoes, dresses, workout clothes, panties, costumes, vendor fair stuff, it's all adding up. You'd think I was going away for two weeks, not 4 days.

I put my bag on the scale and it's already up to 46.5 lbs!!! Very close to the 50 lb weight limit set by the airlines and I haven't even packed my toiletries. Looks like my luggage needs to go on a diet.

I tried to go through everything I've packed and pare it down a bit. I removed 1 sundress and a pair of flip flops, but somehow a pair of pants ended up landing in my bag. Clearly this isn't going so well.

I am about to head back to the bedroom and try again because I know that I will be coming home with purchases and will be subject to a fine for too heavy a bag. Or worse yet, I'll be asked to remove some of my items as I stand at the check in - sure thing, let me just whip out this large paddle and other toys and put them in my carry-on. No thank you! If that isn't good incentive to lighten my load, I don't know what is.

How about this for an incentive mesure.

For each dollar your're fined (if indeed you are), one minute of corner time when you get back.

EX: 25$ fine at the counter = 25 minutes in the corner at home

Followed by the use of any and every instrument taken out of your luggage, such as the afore-mentioned paddle (other toy usage at your BF's discretion, depending on the moment).

I have the same problem when packing - I want everything just in case! As i rarely fly it does not matter so much but it is embarrassing to lug a large suitcase into someone's house when you have only gone for two nights! What I have found worked in the past was, when arriving home, to take out of the case anything that had not been worn/used, and to ensure not to take those things next time. (It certainly worked on Boy scout camps and hiking trips when you had to carry everything you took in your ruc-sac.)

I too always scramble round at the last minute: yesterday I visited my sister for one day only, and found myself leaving homs an hour after I had said I would.

I suspect your colour scheme will work well - good luck with applying it when you get back from Vegas. I hope you are pleased with your own colour scheme (pink/red on white) achieved AT the SL party. Have a great time - we look forward to your piccies on your return.

Of course it could just be that you will strike lucky on the return glight and have one of your fans chck in your luggage.....:)

Enjoy the SL party and be sure to pack some good recolections for your trip back so that all of us who cannot go can at least get to hear about it.

Congrats on your new home :)
Packing is no fun at all. Too bad you can't just sneak a bunch of your gear into the bag of someone accompanying you on the trip. If you're found out, use pleading eyes and your best pouty face! Who could resist?

smallhanded - 25 minutes in the corner?? Omg! I can barely take 25 seconds. I am going to have make sure my boyfriend does not see this suggestion!

Winchester - You sound so similar to me. Even though you end up overpacking, isn't it good to feel prepared for just about anything? Boy Scout's motto after all - be prepared.

I'm sure I will have a great time at SL and no doubt I'll have lots of pics to share.

Funbun - I'm definitely all about light colors when it comes to the house. Can't promise to keep all of my play light though! Fear not, all in moderation.

Anonymous - Pants are ditched. I thought I might get cold in the over-air conditioned hotel, but I'm much more likely to wear a light jacket than pants ... and I suppose if my bottom is really cold, there are other ways to warm it up than wearing pants.

Tim - thank you! Don't worry, I won't forget. :)

Prefectdt - I promise to share the fun with everyone as soon as I get back. If I can, I hope to post a couple of pictures during my stay too and then do a more in depth report when I get home.

2Good - Well, my boyfriend is the only one that I know that will be on the same flight and I fear that he is overpacking almost as much as I am. And if he were to be stuck with overweight luggage caused by say a nice paddle stuffed in the pocket ... well, let's just say I'm not sure my pouty face would get me out of trouble this time! Maybe I can casually slip some items in Beverly's bag when she's not looking. >:)

I managed to eliminate a couple of items and put a few others in my backpack. That managed to bring the total weight w/ everything I need down from a high of 50.5 to 46.0 lbs. My back may not appreciate all that I'm lugging around in my carry-on, but it's better to have a sore back (and hopefully get a nice massage) than pay a fine and risk getting put in the corner! I'm headed to bed now. O'dark hundred comes way too early.

I usually manage one carry-on bag and nothing else. Of course, guys usually have much less to pack....
I seldom use implements when I spank, preferring to use just my hand. I usually take a few along, though...just in case. A good hairbrush, a leather paddle, maybe a ruler strap. I just put them in the carry-on and (so far, anyway) security has never been a problem....
Congratulations on the house! And have a blast at Shadow Lane!

::sigh:: I am packing a crap ton of stuff too. And then I need shoes to go with all those, and oh yeah, I can't forget the extra shirts and outfits. At this rate, we'll be changing every hour on the hour. :) See you soon, my dear partner in crime!!

A new house, a new woodshed, a new paddle to be used in the woodshed, and the same old naughty Pixie.
Sounds like this neighborhood is getting better.
