Life Outside of Spanking

Recently I received a concerned email saying I have a spanking addiction that if not controlled, could be dangerous. I’m troubled by that phrase as addiction has such a negative connotation. I readily admit I have an avid interest in spanking, a passion if you will, but I don’t know that I’d call it an addiction. Yes, sometimes I’ll crave a good spanking if it’s been a long time without one, but sometimes I’ll crave blueberries if I haven’t had any for a while too. I don’t think either makes for an addiction per se.

But if someone reads my blog, I can certainly understand why they might come away with the impression that my entire life revolves around spanking. It is what I tend to post about most but that’s because it is a spanking blog after all. However, I really do like to keep a good balance of other outside interests because honestly, while spanking is a wonderful and fun passion to have, it can’t be everything. In fact now that I spend much of my time working on the PB website for a living, my other hobbies, interests, and passions are all the more important and appealing.

I thought I might share with you some of the activities and interests that I like to engage in outside of the realm of spanking. Some things you may have picked up on from various vanilla posts and others I don’t believe I’ve touched on.

I love animals and will be participating in a charity walk to raise funds for the local animal shelter this fall. So it’s no Buns on the Run, but it is my small way of giving back to a worthy cause.

On any nice day that I can get some time away from the computer, I can be found hiking, kayaking, biking, or at the very least, walking to the local stores to do my errands.

I’m a gym rat too so on days when the weather won’t cooperate, I’m content to sweat it up with my iPod indoors.

I love amusement parks! The bigger and scarier the rollercoaster, the better. I haven’t gotten to go yet this year, but the season is hardly over yet.

I’m very much looking forward to getting my piano tuned after I move. No sense in doing it now as it will get all out of whack when transporting it to the new house. I can’t wait to be able to play again without disturbing the neighbors. My favorite classical composer is Bach and modern is Brubeck.

I also know how to play the violin, but I never much liked it. After playing for 10 years in school, my poor violin now sits abandoned in my closet.

I used to think I would grow up to be a music teacher, but I’m terrified of speaking in front of crowds. A classroom of kids qualifies as a crowd in my book and so I nixed that idea pretty quickly.

Since I love math and science as much as music, I decided to go that route instead. While in college I worked in a flavor development lab compounding liquid flavors of all sorts. On a good day I would leave smelling like cotton candy. On a not so good day, bleu cheese concentrate.

I enjoy photography. Nature photography in particular.

For all my love of nature, I seem to have been born devoid of a green thumb. :(

Ghosts fascinate me. I enjoy reading books on supposed true accounts of hauntings. I think I would like to spend a night at a nearby haunted inn, but I’d probably be scared out of my wits.

I like to draw and prefer pencil and pastels over pen and ink. My favorite things to draw are apples. I draw them all the time and random papers of mine are often covered in apple doodles.

So that’s just a bit of Pixie sans spanking. Don’t worry though, my next post will return to its normally scheduled topics of bratting and bottom warming. Just wanted to share a little bit about some of my outside interests here as well.

Yep, definitely much more to Pixie than spanking. :-) That's why we love her.

I'm glad to read your post about your outside interests. I enjoy hiking and being outdoors too. :)
I love roller coasters although I havn't been on one in a few months. Maybe with the PNE coming up I can get on the big wooden roller coaster..it's always a really fun time. :)

I must say that, even though like you said, I've picked up some things about you through other posts, it is nice to hear more about who you are as a person besides all the spanking! It makes a blog a bit more intimate, I think. Anyway, thanks for sharing the information, even if you did it because someone thought you were a spanking addict. Personally, I never had the idea you were, but that's just me ;-)

Pixie-
You know I am a former addictions therapist and I never once thought you needed an intervention! :)

Thanks for sharing more about you! We have a lot of interests in common and it is great knowing more of what makes you so wonderful!

Hugs-

Even before this post there are plenty of examples of your adventures outside the Spanking scene on this blog.

The bubble gum thing is a bit worrying though ;-)

Obviously we expect to find spanking on your blog. That's a given. You have other (vanilla)interests you share as well. If someone has an addiction, it takes precidence over family, friends, work and things they normally love. I doubt this is the case with you.

It has been me who sparked off his subject. I never meant though, to "label" Pixie as a "spanking addict", (with all the negative connotations) but apparently she perceived it as such. So I apologize for having chosen the wrong words.
Yes, I aired some concerns but in a - in my opinion - different context. Believe me it was well meant... Very well meant.

I see Pixie as a talented, intelligent, wonderful woman who I greatly admire for what she is doing. I love her for who she is and I am not afraid to say so publicly.

To me "Funbun", spanking is FUN, even an ACT of LOVE and certainly not an addiction as seen from a negative connotation.

Love and XXX, Funbun

Pixie,
You sound like a very down to earth and caring person. Since you love nature & roller coasters you may want to take a drive to Elysburg,Pa. & go to Knoebels Amusement Park. They got Best Amusement Park in the August "Best Of Philly" issue of Philadelphia Magazine. It's a great park in the woods of Northeast Pa. And come September check out the Bloomsburg Fair (9/22-9/29) in Bloomsburg,Pa. The biggest County fair on the East Coast. I'm also into photography & belong to a local photography club. I love photojournalism & documentary photography.
Spank On !

When you have time check out the web site for Cedar Point Amusement Park. They have the best roller coasters in the US. It is worth a trip to Ohio.

Chloe - you are too sweet! Extra Chuck E Cheese tokens for you.

padme - I always thought from your blog that if we could meet up we'd have a lot of fun even if we did only vanilla things.

kate - thank you. :) I'm glad that you like to read a little bit about who I am aside from spanking. It's nice to be able to share that side too.

Veronica - Lol! Thanks. Maybe it's the Libra connection?

Prefectd - Yes, you have a point about the bubble gum. Terrible vice. Never met a flavor I didn't like!

2Good - You're right. It's all about finding a healthy balance. I was just concerned that the view I was presenting might have come off skewed.

Funbun - I really do appreciate all of your concern and kind words as well. As I wrote to you in email, the phrase and some of your genuine concerns coupled with a comment or two I'd received from others merely got me thinking about how my regular blog posts about 99% spanking might lead to misinterpretation. This gave me the little push to make a non-spanking post that I've wanted to do for a while and I thank you for that. :)

Tim - Elysburg and Bloomsburg are both a couple hours from me, but if they offer some of the best coasters and fairgrounds around, then it would be worth the trip! Belonging to a photography club sounds pretty cool. Before I'd ever consider doing something like that, I'd have to save my pennies to upgrade from my little point and shoot camera. :)

Nellie - I saw Cedar Point on a documentary on amusement parks one time. It looks fantastic and I'd love to go. Now I just need to find someone as fanatical about roller coasters as me that's up for a road trip.

Thank you to each and every one of you that have read this and especially to those that were so nice in posting comments. I was a little nervous about sharing something other than spanking related thoughts, but I'm so glad that it was received well.

Hey, I really enjoyed this post. The fact that you are well rounded in ways other than your bottom has come through in other posts--so although this clarification wasn't needed, it was still pretty enlightening and entertaining.

Dear Pixie,
Hey, it's your blog...you can write about whatever you want to...
:-)
Of course you don't have a spanking addiction. It's not an obsession and the only thing you think about or live for. As your list of interests show, you are a complex and complete human being, and that always comes out in your non-spanking related posts and pictures. It's probably the reason I enjoy your blog so much.

Don't forget bubblegum. ;)

I knew you had an active lifestyle, but I didn't know HOW active. Amazing. Such a good girl when it comes to staying fit. :)

Bravo Pixie - whatever sparked this post, I am delighted to have read it. Others have picked up on the fact that several of your other posts have indicated a love for life way beyond the scene. Yes, you have a spanking blog and that is what everyone tunes in for - so keep it coming please - but what an amazing range of interests. I didn't know about the music - playing the piano can be a super way out and I hope you soon get it tuned and playable: playing in a flat (appartment I suppose you call them) is anti-social! I must look up Brubeck - I don't know him at all (or is it a her?). Bach is great - except when I try to play him! He may have written a "well-tempered clavier", but makes for a bad-tempetred me when I get him all wrong!

Thank you for sharing all this: it is important, because you spend so much time being a "brat" professionally, that your viewers and readers should know what makes you tick!

Tim - thanks. :) I'm glad to hear that you both saw evidence of my other interests in regular posts and that you found this list of pixie factoids entertaining.

Dr. Ken - awww thank you. It makes me very happy to know you enjoy reading my little blog.

007 - Yep, I'm always looking to do something active which is why I think corner time is so hard for me to tolerate.

Winchester - Dave Brubeck is a US jazz pianist known for using some pretty unusual time signatures like 5/4, 7/4, and 13/4! One of his popular compositions is "Take Five", but my favorite piece to play is "Kathy's Waltz". Ok, I'll stop my band geek rambling now. Thanks for saying you enjoy both my brat and unbrat sides. :)

Hey - It might not be Bums on the Run, but the animal charities are always the ones I'm the big sucker for. Dunno if you read my Spanking Spot interview (it was a few after yours) but I did a sponsored free fall thing for the animal welfare charity and I still beat myself up (not literally, 'cause then there'd be some weird sort of perversion guilt involved) that I couldn't do more.

Roller Coasters are fab. We don't have that many good ones over the pond though. Quite unfair!

Amy - yes I do remember your interview. I recall coveting the uniform you were pictured in as well. :) Animal welfare is a great cause and I'm glad you share in the passion!

Roller coasters are all the more reason you should come for a visit to the states then. I've been on a few that have made me question my sanity as I sat perched at the very top waiting to drop at full speed. And of course then as soon as it's over, I run to get back in line again!

Hi Pix!

I would disagree with you that your previous posts have been 99% about spanking. You have mentioned several times about your enjoyment of walking and hiking and for several of those, the only nod to spanking was an included (and very appreciated {grin}) bare bottom photo of a not recently spanked bottom.

That said, it was very nice to hear more about your other interests. I share with you the enjoyment of nature photography, but you can have the roller coaster....never really enjoyed the sensation of my stomach up between my ears....{grin} Of course, if you are looking for road trip companions, spending time with you might be worth putting up with the sensation {BG}

Hi darlin' -- I don't know you very well, but from what I've read about you, I've always sensed that you're an intelligent and well-rounded woman with a full life.

And you know, there's no winning sometimes! If we post about our other stuff, people want to hear more about the spanking. Ever get IMs and emails from guys asking "So, how's your bottom?" Arrgghh! There's a body and a mind attached to it, ya know... -- Erica

The red tartan and green blazer? Or the lilac tartan? I think both were featured. The lilac one is currently the official Northern Spanking uniform. I think I still like the red best though. ;)

I hope to get over to the states at some point in the next year or so. Depends where either of my jobs takes me I guess!

Erica - thank you. :) That means quite a lot to hear from you! About the emails ... I have a few that I'd love send over to you for CHOS. ;-)

Amy - The red tartan one caught my eye most. So bright and official looking. I hope you find a way to get over to the states this coming year too. Let me know if you do.

I have tried to send you a note in reply to your note several times today, but Yahoo and Comcast don't seem to be talking with each other. Your note made it to me but my replies keep getting bounced back to Yahoo.

I will try again tomorrow.

to me sometime i do forget girl or model like you do not spend every day getting spanked. does seem like some of you do get spanked in private but you also get spanked on films and in company you work at and for. it just seem like you do causee you are alway posting or uploading pics of it. i see no harm or anything wrong with that.

Way-way late on this... but wanted to say how much we enjoyed this post. Kind of funny that someone that is READING a blog about spanking, figures they're in a position to say someone else is obsessed about spanking... lol.

Sane and semi-intelligent people know there is a lot more to you... and most all spankos... than just spanking. Just like people at car shows are into more than just cars... people at a baseball game are into more than just baseball... etc, etc.

In a previous blog entry you compared the roler coaster with a spanking. You evidently get a bigger thrill from giant roller-coasters than from more gentle ones: I wonder whether the adrenaline working before a severe spanking gives you a bigger thrill than a more routine one? And although this is your blog not Amy's, I wonder whether she shares your ideas about the comparison?
