Back To School Fashion Mega Report

It may still be summer according to the calendar, but over the weekend a cold front moved through ushering in cool, crisp air that makes it all too clear that fall is just around the corner. While I can't say I'm looking forward to the return of cold temperatures and having to put away my shorts in favor of those dreaded jeans, the beginning of fall has almost a magical quality and reminds me of the excitement of the back to school season. It conjures images of fresh notebooks, sharpened pencils, mary janes, red ripe apples, and colorful autumn leaves against bright blue skies. And of course ... school uniforms.

I love school uniforms and prior to packing up in preparation for my upcoming move, half of my closet was taken up with white blouses, pleated skirts, and more plaids than you probably knew existed. It honestly looked as if I attended (and was promptly kicked out of) every private school in the state.

I have uniforms that are official attire, some that are passable, and those that are clearly not regulation by any stretch of the imagination. Let's get started and take a look.

This is the standard uniform we use at Punished Brats. Navy pleated skirt, white blouse, blue plaid tie, navy sweater vest. All purchased from an online official school uniform shop that asks no questions and doesn't require you to have the special code number of the private school the student attends. I love the length of the skirt, but wish they offered it in plaid. The styles they do offer in plaid are either irritating skorts (can't flip up a skort to spank the naughty bottom underneath) or super long as featured coming up next.

See what I mean? Plaid, pleated, but way too long.

When putting this uniform on last night, my boyfriend said I ought to be spanked for my skirt being too long! But actually, I think I might be in trouble for it being too short believe it or not. Isn't the hem supposed to touch the ground when you kneel?

Now here's a good length. Still pretty modest, but showing a little leg. This is not an official uniform, but I think it's passable.

Oh now this is rather short. No doubt I'd be immediately sent to the principal's office for dress code violation. We can only hope what the punishment for that might be ...

And this is just downright illegal!

Jumper dresses are also popular school uniform attire. Often they are worn by girls in younger grades. Here, complete with saddle shoes and a nice apple for the teacher, I look about ready to head off to elementary school. Still spankable though?

Often times the jumpers are big and shapeless. They look nice from the front, but turn to the side and it looks like a tent.

This is a schoolgirl style dress with a fitted waist. Much better, but not authentic.

Still, it will do the trick. Time to grab my composition book and some nice new number 2 pencils. Dixon Ticonderoga pencils are my personal favorites.

Have a seat at the old school desk and get to work.

No, not writing lines. Making apple doodles!! Sorry they look so light. The flash washed them out.

But here are some of my color pencil apple drawings. Told you they were my favorite things to draw. :)

And to finish up, here are a few more odds and ends in relation to school uniforms.

For the longest time I had no clue how to tie a tie. I had to rely on the fake velcro fastened kinds or the snap together cross ties. But at my first Shadow Lane party, I did a bit of role play with a wonderfully kind gentleman who taught me how to tie one properly ... and then he spanked me of course.

While this is hardly an official uniform, I really like this outfit. It's a sorority girl costume but with a nice plaid, pleated skirt and comfy hoodie. If only it didn't say "Tappa Keg" on it, one could almost get away with wearing it in public.

And while it's not exactly a schoolgirl uniform, I also love this official school soccer uniform. Back to school means back to the soccer fields too. Goooooooal!

Wish we could borrow some of that cool air down here. We could use it! Very much looking forward to fall. Of course, here that means temps in the low 70s.

Lovely pics... the illegal ones are the best, lol. Nice drawings too!

This made me miss school greatly! I *hate* uniforms and wearing them in videos, however, I love school and miss it! The soccer uniform brought back memories, and made me wanna go back to playing. Ahhh good memories from this post :)

This is officially *the* cutest post, ever. I like the longer kilts, though. :)

Dear Pixie,
Oddly enough, the downright illegal skirt is the one I like you in the best. I wonder why...?
:-)
And as far as the school jumper goes--yes, most definitely still spankable! I think you could be wearing a cardboard box and still be spankable....

You simply look a d o r a b l e in these outfits...
Guess it must have been impossible for the teachers not to spank you themselves before sending you to the headmaster.
Turning the lolely cheeks under the tartan into little red apples..

Love and XXX, Funbun

Wow. This is hands down the best photo essay on school uniforms I've ever seen. I know dozens of community people who would love to see this. Great stuff, Pixie. Literally A+. You should post this on the SL board and MSF. :-)

I *love* school uniforms too! My favorite is the black and white skirt. We should wear those to Headmaster Pierson's office one time and see what he does. Muhahahaha....

First pyjamas, and now all these uniforms. We’re getting spoilt for choice here. I guess my favourite school outfit must be ‘sixth-former’ (whatever that is in the US) by which I mean shirt, tie, barely legal skirt and – dare I say – stockings? I’m not really a ‘socks’ person.
Yes, I did say barely – excuse the pun.

Still spankable though?

Always, Pixie! Always!

My Dear Chloe', What do you think would happen should you find yourself in my office again? I have a paddle with your name on it.

If the girls looked as cute as you do in those outfits when i was in high school, I never would have graduated. That and my grade in spanish. and biology... and chemistry. ok you got the idea. You're cute ok!

ps. I did graduate. nah!

I'm definitely not into the short school uniforms. An inch or two above the knee is about as high up as I like -- anything shorter just isn't authentic enough for me. Picky, picky! I've been having a hard time finding the right length -- I've tried on several uniforms lately and some have shorts sewn inside (travesty) and all the others come down below my knee (I'm 5'4, but I still can't believe they're that long). The search continues!

You usually can't go up to a lady and say, "Hey, nice apples!", but..ok, just this once....

Pixie,

I like the Jumper dresses with the saddle shoes. I do not like the long dresses that go to the knees. They make the girls look like first graders. I should know since I attended 12 years of Catholic school. Twelve years of nuns was enough for me.
Ps. I like your drawings.

What a collection! So far as I remember my sisters had to kneel on the floor and the hemline was not to be more than 2 inches above the ground - I don't know what happened if it was too short! The barely legal is really too short -the illegal is not only too short, it is so short that it belongs on other sites rather than spanking ones! In the Football kit you seem to be practising ballet - Foot-ballet perhaps (excuse the pun).

And while Chloe-Elise might well grace several of your outfits (and it would be nice to see her wearing them,) she need only wear her own new thrift-shop outfit to see the Headmaster - I am sure the paddle would be ready - or even perhaps let it be an English Headmaster - and the cane! A super blog, thank you Pixie.

All the photos are lovely...of course...but the last one rings bells for me because you are wearing the same strip I wore when playing for my House team at school. In fact, I ended up as House Captain of Grey House and the football strip was yellow top and black shorts.

Wish you had been on the team when I was Captain...you would definitely have been vice-captain and, after every match, I would have pulled your shorts down and spanked your naughty bum for any mistakes you made.

Todd & Suzy - I will be happy to send some nice cool air your way in exchange for some of your Florida heat ... and if you'd like to throw Disney World into the deal, that would work too. :)

Glad you like the pics - the naughty and the nice ones!

Katie James - Good to hear that someone else loves school too. I swear I'd be a professional student if I could.

Adele - thank you!!! I definitely have plenty of longer ones in various plaids if you'd ever like to come over and play dress up. ;-)

Dr. Ken - Goodness, a vote for the illegal skirt. Hmmm. Can't imagine why at all. LOL. Spankable in a cardboard box, eh? Well, just wait for my next post then when I'll feature my current collection of moving boxes. J/k.

Funbun - Oh yes, in my dream academy I would get to wear little jumpers and plaid skirts every day and I'd often be spanked by the teachers and headmaster alike.

007 - Thanks for the A+! I'll hang that one on my fridge.

Chloe - You'd have to attend my dream academy too. That way I could yank your braid and get you in trouble for making noise in class.

Steve - I prefer socks over stockings, but it would be another cute look. Of course nearly everything variation is tempting to me!

Mark - Thank you! That's good to know. :)

David - Get her Headmaster.

Eric - Awwww. That's so sweet!

Ruby - I'm 5'4" too so I know what you mean! That's why I really love the skirts we use for our standard PB uniforms. They are regulation but not super long.

2Good - thanks. :) Apples are as fun to draw as they are to eat.

Dr. Ken - Yes, that's true! And thank you!

Tim - The private school girls around where I lived always had to wear their skirts long all the way through high school, but near where David lives, apparently they manage to get away with wearing their uniforms closer to the 'illegal' length!

Winchester - Soccer ballet, eh? Just trying to show off my nifty cleats. Chloe is more than welcome to share in some of my uniforms, but from what I understand, she has a growing collection of her own too! We ought to coordinate one of these days for a double trouble scene. >:)

Aristotle - Got to love soccer and spankings. Late for practice? No penalty laps. A good bare bottom spanking would serve as a far better reminder.

Pixie, I love the school uniform and you look soo cute wearing them. My favorite part of the school uniform is the knee socks, especially cable knit knee socks. I like white, but my favorite is navy. Would love to see you wearing a pair of navy cable knits with your navy uniform.

Thanks,
Will

Of course you would look good in a moving box, Pixie!
After all, they all helpfully say, "This End Up...."

You'd maybe be surprised at the sheer number of girls I've met on the UK circuit over the last few years who just haven't the faintest idea of how to tie a basic schooltie.

I'd understand a bit if it was being unable to do a bow-tie, or an windsor knot - I still can't manage those without a guide!

I love the blue PB uniform with the sweater vest - it's adorable!

Great post! you are quite the fashionista when it comes to all things school uni related.

Love the sorority outfit.

On your editorial docket, may i kindly suggest a fashion report on cheerleading uni's.

Pixie...could you tell me where you all order your uniforms?

Amber Pixie Wells said...

Will - Next time I place an order, I will see about getting a pair of navy blue knee socks. :) I actually picked up a pair that I thought were knee socks at the local dept. store only to be disappointed that they only went up mid-calf.

Dr. Ken - That is too funny!

Amy - Glad I'm not the only one that was stumped as to how to tie a tie until recently. I don't think I'll even attempt a bow tie!

Dave - Sure thing. I will definitely do a cheerleader uniform post in the near future as I certainly have quite a collection of those as well. (No doubt my closet is sounding stranger and stranger by the minute.) Perhaps as the weather gets cooler and football season really gets into swing I'll do my cheer post. :)

Ruby - I get them from lots of different places. French Toast is great. I also like Schoolbelles and Lands' End and of course eBay! eBay rules. On occasion I've also gotten skirts or blouses from Sears or JCPenney's. Lots of great non-regulation skirts at Deb's. Thrift shops or PTA stores often have gently used uniforms and the kids' departments of shops like Target and Old Navy have some but generally only in khaki or navy; no plaids. One of my schoolgirl style outfits I got from my grandmother for Christmas one year. Bless her. I'm not positive, but I think she might have gotten it from Belk's.

When I was at school we all had to kneel and the skirt had to touch the back of the legs below the knee. The skirt was immediately rolled back up at the waist band as soon as assembly was over.
For the life of me I never could understand what knicker inspection was all about

As for ties and school uniform, the chic way to wear them, not the regulation way, was that they had to be a double windsor but not pulled up tight to the collar, almost worn like a necklace and the ends had to be short.
