Spanking when it's cold

Not that I'll have to worry about it being cold much longer with spring and summer temps on the way, but I found myself wondering why it stings so much more when I get spanked on a chilly bum than when I'm nice and toasty warm. It got pretty cool out during our hike on Wednesday when the sun hid behind the clouds and so the quick spanking I received stung a heck of a lot more than usual. Why is that?

I tried to do a little internet research but there seems to be few scientific studies on the subject. Ask A Scientist theorizes that a slap on the arm (or I suppose, a butt) hurts more when it's cold out because our bodies produce more thyroxine which increases the sensitivity of the nervous system. But this doesn't explain why just a chill or short exposure to the cold would make it hurt more.

Is it because the blood vessels are constricted in trying to conserve body heat and then are forced to expand in response to the smacks?

Is there another idea I'm not thinking of? Please let me know if you have any theories. :) I'm a curious brat.

It's a good question! We've wondered about that one too, and came up with the same guess you have. Of course, a warm bottom that is wet... say in hot-tub... also feels the extra sting. A large study, with lots of test subjects, should be conducted!

Has to do with conservation of warmth dear girl. When you are cold you vasoconstrict, when warm you vasodialate.

A lot of spanking performers want a warm up to vasodialate, unlike you, who prefers no warm up.

hm, well, quite an interesting topic. I have not the slightest.

Anyhoo, I think 'a.s.s' is right -- a large study should certainly be conducted...with perhaps Pixie as Chief of Field Research.

I'll be umm...Chief Spanko?;)

I agree that a large study is truly the only way to be certain. :) Let's put those years of clinical research experience to good use and get to the bottom of this. But ermmm ... does the Chief of Field Research get cold spankings too?

um....good question. I think all parties involved get chilly spanks!
