I went on a great hike on Wednesday with my boyfriend. To add a little extra challenge to it, we decided to not take the trail and instead cross the stream and hike along the steep hillside. This picture doesn't accurately capture just how sharp an angle it is, but trust me it was steep. I was literally crab crawling along the ground at some points trying to prevent sliding all the way down.
This is one of the many beautiful cascades we saw once we got to easier terrain.
It's so cool how the water has worn random holes into the rocks.
Near the cascade, lots of people had carved their names and the date into the rocks over the years. But there was one very well done name "Schill" with a year "1901" in old-fashioned script etched deeply into the rock. Could it really be that someone carved their family name there over 100 years ago?
While hiking, it's always good to speak softly and carry a big stick. :)

Wow. The waterfall is really pretty. Did you go for a swim?

Speak softly and walk with a big stick is right :)
Or a big switch...or paddle...hehe
Great pics - I can't wait to get home and go hiking and out in the woods!
bunwarmer - no swimming that day. it was way too chilly! but when summer comes around don't be surprised if you see me jumping in for a refreshing dip.
007 - thank you. I sure hope all of the cold temperatures are behind us now.
dave - thank you, thank you. :)
katie james - hiking is always interesting when someone is carrying a big stick or switch but the paddles can stay home! Ouch! I hope you get to go hiking soon.
